Beta Notice: PetFinderNetwork.org and associated volunteer coordination tools are in an early operational rollout. Features and workflows may continue to evolve as part of ongoing testing and improvement. Volunteers and pet owners should continue to use traditional lost pet recovery methods (flyers, shelter visits, and in-person searching) alongside these tools.

1. Who We Are

PetFinderNetwork.org is operated by the Lost Pet Finder Network, a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status pending, dedicated to improving lost pet recovery outcomes through trained volunteers, coordinated alerts, and community-based response.

The nonprofit uses technology services provided by TailTracker Public Benefit Corp. (“TailTracker”), including authentication, mapping, and mission coordination tools. TailTracker retains ownership of its intellectual property. The nonprofit does not license or redistribute TailTracker software or branding.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to operate the Finder Network and coordinate recovery efforts:

Name and basic contact information (email, phone)
Home ZIP code or service area
Account authentication details
Finder status and training progression
Sighting submissions (photos, time, location)
Mission participation activity
Limited technical data (IP address, security logs)

3. How We Use Your Information

To operate and improve the Finder Network
To notify observers of nearby lost pet missions
To coordinate active recovery efforts
To route credible sightings to families and coordinators
To maintain platform safety and prevent misuse
To evaluate mission effectiveness and improve outcomes

4. Information Sharing

Limited volunteer data is shared with TailTracker Public Benefit Corp. solely to operate mission tools.
During active missions, your first name or call sign may be visible to coordinators or other volunteers.
Sighting reports may be shared with pet owners, shelters, or coordinating agencies.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.

5. Cookies & Technical Data

We use essential cookies and technical data for authentication, security, and session management. We do not use advertising or behavioral tracking cookies.

6. Data Retention

Mission-related data may be retained for training, safety review, operational analysis, and platform improvement. You may request account deletion at any time.

You may update your profile or service area at any time.
You may pause or opt out of volunteer alerts.
You may request deletion of your Finder account.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not intended for children under 13. Minors may participate only with explicit parent or guardian oversight and responsibility.
